PURPOSE OF THIS POLICY STATEMENT

This policy sets out how Fleetwood Gym ABC complies with UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR) and how we use personal data as defined by UK GDPR which may be recorded on our security camera system. The document explains how we comply with the law on data protection and what your rights are.

For the purposes of data protection laws Fleetwood Gym ABC will be the controller of any of your personal data recorded on our security camera system.

WHAT IS PERSONAL DATA?

Personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (data subject); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, image or likeness or one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.

INFORMATION WE HOLD THAT MAY RELATE TO YOU

We may collect video recordings and still picture images which feature you and/or your child if captured within the field of vision of our security camera system. This personal data may include your activities, your face and/or other visual information about you which may be recorded on our security camera system.

WHAT WE DO WITH YOUR PERSONAL DATA

Personal data that is captured on our security camera system will only be used for the following purposes:

  • For the prevention and detection of crime

  • For evidence in any civil or criminal legal proceedings

  • To assist in investigations

  • For safety and security

  • Dealing with any queries, complaints or enquiries

In certain circumstances we may anonymise any of the personal data we hold on our security camera system (for example by obscuring your face or other identifiable feature) so that it does not directly identify you.  In this instance the recording would cease to be classed as personal data and we may use this anonymised information for any other purposes.

WHO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION WITH

We may share your personal data with the following parties:

  • Suppliers and service providers: to manage and operate the security camera system as our data processor.

  • The police and other law enforcement agencies: to carry out policing, assist investigations, trace missing people and investigate alleged criminal activities.

The security services: where relevant for matters of national security.

  • People who have been injured, attacked or had property damaged or stolen and their insurance providers: to assist them with any criminal or civil investigations or legal proceedings.

  • Any relevant regulators: where we are required to do so by law or to assist with their investigations or initiatives, and this includes but is not limited to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

We do not disclose personal information to anyone else except as set out above unless we have your consent or we are legally obliged to do so. We do not sell your data.

HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR PERSONAL DATA

We will keep your personal data for up to approximately 28 days after the recording was made. After this time the recording stored on the hard drive of our security camera system will usually be overwritten.

However, if we receive an enquiry about a particular recording on our security camera we will generally then retain that part of the recording until it is no longer required. This period can vary as it will depend upon the circumstances of the particular case, but for criminal or civil legal proceedings this could mean that the personal data is retained until after the legal case and any appeals have been concluded, which may be many years.

As soon as it is no longer required we will then delete the personal data.
